With nearly 35 years of culinary expertise, Grant King (GKC) has cemented his reputation as one of Australia’s most celebrated chefs. His journey includes leading the 2-hat Pier Restaurant as Chef de Cuisine in 2003, where he earned 3 chef hats by 2005 and maintained them for five consecutive years. During this time, Pier also achieved 3 Gourmet Stars, was named Australia’s Best Restaurant by Gourmet Traveller, and ranked #98 on the prestigious San Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants list. GKC co-authored the Pier Cookbook and traveled globally for collaborations, guest appearances, and masterclasses, further honing his craft.
In 2011, Chef Grant King opened his first independent restaurant, Gastro Park—a true playground of gastronomy. It quickly earned 2 chef hats, 2 Gourmet Stars, an 18/20 rating from Gault & Millau, and was ranked #7 in Australia for Best Restaurant, with GKC himself named No 1Chef in the country. A repeat guest judge on MasterChef Australia, GKC later transformed Gastro Park into The Antipodean in 2017, a more accessible dining concept showcasing only the finest ingredients from Australia and his native New Zealand.
